When my friend Babs asked me if I would watch her nephew so she and her sister could go skiing, I said, why not. Well, it ended up to be a fabulous day with Mr. Logan. I brought my camera along just in case I could get some photos to surprise his parents with, and boy were they surprised! Logan was the perfect subject and had the most beautiful blue eyes that really sparkled. These photos were taken inside and were taken from many different angles in different locations throughout the house. It is amazing when you look at the pictures to see what different lighting can do to the same child in the same situation. Lighting my friends is everything, and having a fabulous subject doesn’t hurt either.
Babs and her sister came home from skiing and I went on my merry way. I knew her sister would be heading back to Minneapolis in two days, so I had to get to work. I worked on putting the finishing touches on the pictures, got a CD ready and surprised them with a little gift from me. Needless to say they were blown away…days like this one are what make being a photographer so much fun,~ the right light, a well behaved little guy and a fun surprise just coming from the heart! I hope that the memories of Logan will last his family a lifetime and the brief moment we had together captured this special time in his life.
Lesson learned as a photographer…always have your camera with you and the most innocent moments might become some of your most treasured images. Also remember that lighting can make or break a photo, be sure to move your subject or yourself to catch the perfect light. You will be thankful you did!
