A Covered Bridge, Flowing Water & Special Time with Daughters | Family Photos at Shevlin Park

My sweet friend Jane, oh how I adore her…

I was sitting talking with Jane and she was so excited to tell me that her daughter Jenny was coming into town for a visit.  It would be the first visit in years,  as Jenny has been in Samoa in the Peace Corps for the last two.  She was talking about how it will be the first time she will have her girls together in a long time and she was excited.  Jane has two daughters, Jenny and Kate.  She always feels so lucky because Kate lives in town and she is able to see her often, but Jenny does not make it home much.  The night past and we went our separate ways…A few days later I called Jane and said I had noticed that in her house there were no pictures of she and the girls and I really wanted to take some for her while Jenny was in town.  She thought about it and said it would be a great idea, she just had to get the girls to sign on…I let her in on a secret, don’t give the option and you can have your pictures.

A few months later, begrudgingly, Kate and Jenny agreed to take pictures with their Mom.  I have to tell you I have never seen a bigger smile on my friend Jane’s face in the 7 years I have known her.  The shoot was a blast, the girls were great sports and when the time came for it to be over they actually were thankful they had done the pictures.  After the shoot I suggested we all go out for a beer…Jane had been wanting me to spend a little time with her daughters and get to know the two people she was so proud of.  So, we had a beer and enjoyed great conversation, but the best part was seeing the joy and the sparkle in Jane’s eye being able to spend time with her two girls…the moment was truly priceless and so are the images we captured of them together!

That night Jane sent me and e-mail thank ing me for the day, pushing her to do the pictures and making us all go out for a drink.  She also said that the evening she shared with her husband Bill, her girls and their significant others was the best night of her life.  I can only imagine the images we captured earlier that day helped with the closeness they all felt that night, I certainly can see it through the lens.  As always, my goal is when you look at an image you can feel the love or emotion at that moment in time, I am confident I succeeded with these images.
