The most unexpected surprises are sometimes God’s greatest blessings…life with Paxton!

Sometimes the greatest blessings are the ones we do not know are in store for us…that is what happened for the Smolich family.  Little Paxton was an unexpected gift form God…and boy is he a special one!  I have had the honor of photographing the Smolich family in the past and when the baby arrived I wanted to give my friends Andrew and Brittany something special as a baby  gift.  So, once the little monkey came in to the world, we scheduled some time to get some photos of Paxton, Presley and Parker.  It was super fun just hanging out and being able to capture the love and excitement little Paxton has brought into their home.  Sometimes we cannot plan what God has in store for us, we just have to trust that He has what we need planned for us…and I am sure The Smolich Family will agree, Paxton is the best little surprise they could have ever imagined!  Congratulations on a beautiful family!

A day with little Miss Kate… | Bend, Oregon Newborn Photographer

There was going to be a baby shower with lots of friends and gifts and fun…but instead of a shower there was a baby.  Miss Kate Finter decided it was time to come 6 weeks earlier than planned.  So, I got to meet her on her due date six weeks after her birth!  We had a fabulous day at her parents house taking pictures.  Though it took Miss Kate a while to get used to having me around and her sweet mother’s touch was the one thing to always soothe her, we ended up getting some wonderful photos of this beautiful girl.  Life takes us for many twists and turns but in the end all things are perfect when we are together…with love!  Congratulations to the Finter Family and their new addition, Kate!

Snow, Sun and a whole lot of fun… | Bend, Oregon Natural Light Photographer

It was a beautiful Winter’s Day and it was time for a little fun in the snow.  My friends Aimee and Matt asked if I would do some family photos for them and I was honored that they had asked me.  We decided on a snow shoot with their incredibly beautiful family and boy was it fun!  We headed up to the mountains and found our way to Virginia Messiner Sno Park.  We trekked in this sweet little family as well as a few festive props and came out with some beautiful photos.  It was so much fun to spend time with wonderful friends photographing the love and beauty of the Jameson Family!

What a day at Todd Lake in September looks like | Bend, Oregon Photographer

Together with five other Oregon photographers I am starting a lifestyle blogging project entitled “What ___________ looks like,” an idea inspired by a group of photographers out of Montana.  On the third Monday of each month I will fill in the blank with my own word or concept, and link to the next photographer’s blog until the circle is complete.  I hope you take the time to enjoy this monthly photographic journey, and enjoy each of our monthly projects.

What a day at Todd Lake in September looks like…

It was the Saturday after school started and the girls and I were looking for something fun to do, so we called our friend Jane and she suggested we all go to her favorite place and look for frogs.  So off to Todd Lake we went on a frog and tadpole adventure.  The day was absolutely perfect and the company even better.  Blue skies, tadpoles in clear water and frogs jumping abound on the edges of the lake.

We walked around the lake and finally  found the perfect spot to take in the beauty of Todd Lake.  As Jane and I sat in the grass the girls played in the water catching tadpoles, frogs and whatever they could find.  Days like these are ones that remind me of why I love Bend so much.  20 minutes away from my house I can find tranquility, beauty and friendship in the simplest form.  And the gifts that are being passed down to my daughters are immeasurable!  This is what it is all about, the majestic beauty of the outdoors, the simplicity of catching tadpoles and the time I am able to spend with my daughters and a good friend!  Life doesn’t get much better than a day at Todd Lake in September.  If you are ever in Bend or have not experienced Todd Lake you should take the time to go off the beaten path and see the beauty Central Oregon has to offer.

What hanging out on a hot summer day looks like | Bend Oregon Photographer

Together with five other Oregon photographers I am starting a lifestyle blogging project entitled “What ___________ looks like,” an idea inspired by a group of photographers out of Montana.  On the third Monday of each month I will fill in the blank with my own word or concept, and link to the next photographer’s blog until the circle is complete.  I hope you take the time to enjoy this monthly photographic journey, and enjoy each of our monthly projects.

What hanging out on a hot summer day looks like…

It was a hot summer day in the neighborhood so my girls and I decided to invite the neighbors and head over to Dakine Grindz.  Dakine Grindz has been making itself known here in Central Oregon over the past few years as the place to be and be seen if you are wanting a cool and exciting treat.  The concept is easy…shaved ice with different flavors or additions.  People around town rave about the yummy ice on a hot day and my kids are no different.  On this particular day it was in the 90’s and some cool yummy ice sounded like the best thing to have for a snack.

We all piled in to the car and made our way to the corner of Galveston and Federal.  As usual there was a line so the kids waited patiently for their turn to order a tasty treat.  Once everyone ordered we sat in the shade and enjoyed a little slice of the Hawaiian Shore while sitting on the streets of Central Oregon.  Lucky for us, we had napkins on hand because some of our crew was better at eating the shaved ice than others.  But, the one thing I do know is that Dakine Grindz brings back what it used the feeling of what it used to be like for kids…hanging out on the corner with some ice cream and your friends…what better way to spend a hot summer afternoon!
